This will start with information for walkers; I will add additional points on debt, etc., later when I have time.

What do I do if I want to join you for a day?

  • Go to the JoinMe page and record your details, including the day(s) that you’d like to walk with me. Don’t worry if you have to change details later, but please record the day(s) you expect to join me there. I’ll then keep in touch via email.
  • Check The Route page to see where we’ll be that day. If you are just going to come along for a walk on one afternoon, note the location and get there by no later than 1.45pm (arrive earlier if you would like some lunch before embarking; I should arrive there no later than 12pm every day, after the morning run).
  • Once you’ve finished your section of The Walk, we’ll drive you back to your car again at the starting point.

Do I have to walk if I want to join you?

  • No: other walkers and/or runners are very welcome, but I’m the only person who has to stick to my legs for transportation all the way under the terms of the bet. If you’d like to accompany me, then any other means of transportation is fine.
  • I’d prefer that you use a non-motorised form of transportation of course–roller blades, bicycle, skateboard, whatever you prefer using if walking or running is not your thing.
  • There may even be a circus troupe on stilts on one day of the walk–probably the Sunday walk into Cooma.

What do I need to do about food and drink?

    • There will be a catered lunch at each lunch spot (basic sandwiches, fruit and drink–please let me know if you have any special dietary requirements and we’ll cater for them.
    • I will pay for this (at a cost of about $15 per person). If you would like to contribute to this, you can either reimburse me partially or fully, preferably by making a donation through the Donate widget on the blog (please add a comment about what the payment is for if you do so).

What are the food and accommodation arrangements if I want to join you for the whole walk?

    • I will pay for food and accommodation for anyone who is willing to walk the entire distance with me; this may include a shared room at some of the venues. The total cost here will be approximately $660 for accommodation and $400 for food. There will be a catered lunch at each lunch spot (basic sandwiches, fruit and drink–please let me know if you have any special dietary requirements and we’ll cater for them–and dinner at night.
    • If you would like to contribute to this, you can either reimburse me partially or fully, preferably by making a donation through the Donate widget on the blog (please add a comment about what the payment is for if you do so).

Where will you be staying overnight?

All overnight stays will be in motels (see below). On two days (Thursday 15th and Saturday 17th) this will involve being driven to a motel 30km from the finish point for the day, since there is no accommodation available at the first stop point or in Bredbo. We are also having a rest day in Jindabyne, since that is just before the toughest stage of The Walk. Accommodation details (and costs) are shown below.
